Peerkada: My Stupidly Humbling Passion Project 🎭🔥

You ever start something, thinking it’s gonna be a breeze, only to find yourself two years later questioning every decision you’ve made in life? Yeah. That’s me with Peerkada.

At its core, Peerkada is just a QR code attendance system—nothing fancy. Admin functions? CRUD operations? Dynamic styling? A profile page that shows a user's image? Sounds simple enough, right? A high schooler could probably throw this together on a school night and still have time to play video games. But me? Jesus Christ, this thing has been HUMBLING. ME. DOWN.

Two Years. TWO. WHOLE. YEARS. 😭

Now, to be fair, I wasn’t working on this consistently. Back in university, time was a rare luxury. But despite the intermittent work, I poured my heart and soul into this project. And if we’re talking about actual hands-on time? I must’ve put in at least 50 hours. Not just coding—no, no, no. That’s including:

• Reiterations 🔄
• Back-and-forth learning 📚
• Bug fixing (aka 80% of my time, I swear to god) 🐛🔧

And the worst part? I thought I was a decent programmer.

Tutorials Will Betray You 😵‍💫

I’ve followed so many tutorials across multiple programming fields. I thought I knew my stuff. But the moment you step out of that guided safety net? Boom. You’re faced with actually thinking about implementation. You need to structure your workflow properly, or else you’ll end up redoing the same things over and over again (like me 😭).

Honestly, this whole experience is like a love-hate relationship—except I’m the only one suffering. And would you believe it? I’m STILL NOT DONE WITH CRUD FUNCTIONALITIES.

The Takeaway: DO IT ANYWAY

Despite the headaches, the ego bruises, and the questionable life choices, I highly recommend making your own passion project. It’s the ultimate test of skill. It’s the biggest jump from just watching tutorials to actually mastering something. You’ll struggle. You’ll cry. But trust me, you’ve already got what you need—just keep pushing. 💪
