Yoooo krazyy I just pulled an issue request to firebase docs wtf.

this dumbahh don’t even update their shit nomo and this doc is used as aĀ beginner-friendly introĀ to theirĀ core concepts— specificallyĀ firebase storage.

so I’m going through the guide like a normal person, trying to refresh my brain,

then I see this snippet usingĀ getDocs().

the code itself is whatever, but the sampleĀ outputĀ they included?

nah that’s where I lost it.

🤔 sample output straight up wrong

bro.

the output shows aĀ plain objectĀ like:

doc.id => [object Object]

when what itĀ shouldĀ be showing is theĀ actual key-pair values inside the doc, like:

doc.id => { name: "julius", age: 23, ... }

likeĀ what’s the pointĀ of showing an object placeholder when the whole point of the example is to demonstrateĀ how to retrieve data from a document?

this is literally aĀ core use caseĀ and they’re showing it wrong.

so misleading. so lazy.

😤 so I did something about it

ain’t no way I’m letting this slide.

but here's the catch: i’ve never doneĀ anything collaborativeĀ on GitHub before.

never pulled a request, never submitted an issue, never even commented.

just me, pushing commits to my own dusty ass projects.

my github graph?

100% commit bars. no diversity.

but I said fuck it — I'm gonna figure it out.

šŸ› ļø first ever Github issue... and it's on firebase

read through how to open one, clicked around a bit, and finally submitted it.

my first ever Github issue

and it’s not even on some small project —

it’s onĀ google’s firebase docs repoĀ šŸ’€

if they actually fix that line, idc, i’m putting "contributed to firebase" in my resume.

šŸ“‰ but let’s be real... their issue history dead af

I checked their recent activity after I submitted.

the last legit closed issue was fromĀ 2023.

someone literally submitted an issue namedĀ "J", said nothing, then closed it.

activity farming at its peak.

so now I’m just waiting, hoping someone at google opens their eyes and sees my masterpiece of a report.

āœ… if they fix it, I win

I’m not even asking for a thank you.

just fix your shit.

I'm doing the workĀ your docs team clearly didn’t bother to double check.

until then, I’ll just keep refreshing the issue thread like a menace.

no lmao just kidding I take it back.

I’m asking for a BIG AHH:

ā€œTHANK YOU BREANZY FOR FIXING OUR SHIT OH MY GOD YOU SAVED FIREBASE HOLY SHIT PLEASE WORK FOR US AS A SENIOR MOTHERFUCKING SOFTWARE ENGINEER AND BECOME OUR SUPREME OVERLORD.ā€
