So, I decided toĀ revisit Data Structures & Algorithms (DS&A)Ā after aboutĀ three yearsĀ of not touching them. Back in college, I felt like I had a pretty solid grasp on themābutĀ wow, was I in for a surprise.
Turns out,Ā if you donāt use it, you lose it.Ā š« I found myself struggling with concepts I once thought were second nature. It really just proves thatĀ repetition is key, no matter how good you think you are at something.
The Struggle is Real š
One thing I noticed is that while I stillĀ kind ofĀ remember some topics, my understanding is mostlyĀ surface-levelĀ now. And honestly?Ā Thatās a bit disappointing.Ā I love learning new things, but the downside is that my brain justā¦Ā forgets a lot of old thingsĀ too. š§ šØ
Now, hereās where Iām torn:
- Do IĀ dive deepĀ into DS&A again?
- Or do I justĀ review the essentialsĀ since I mostly focus onĀ web developmentĀ (which doesnāt require heavy algorithms anyway)?
At the same time, Iām starting to exploreĀ AI model fine-tuningĀ for a passion project Iāve been thinking about. And letās be real,Ā DS&A knowledge is a solid foundationĀ for that. š¤š”
Learning Without Pressure = A Breath of Fresh Air āļø
One thing thatās making this whole refresher courseĀ less painfulĀ is that IāmĀ learning at my own pace.Ā Unlike in school, where I had deadlines and exams hovering over my head, this time, IāmĀ actually interestedĀ (even if it still gets boring sometimes š).
I guess thatās a small win? š
Now, letās see if I can actuallyĀ stick to itĀ this time.Ā Wish me luck! š¤š
What about you? Have you ever triedĀ relearning something you thought you mastered?Ā Let me know how it went! š
